A CONCERNED taxi driver contacted gardaí when he noticed Shankill woman Emma Hall (22) drunk and staggering on Quinnsborough Road in the early hours of January 19.

Hall, with an address of 96 Crinken Glen, Shankill, was unsteady on her feet at about 4.30 a.m. on what Garda Brendan Dowling said was a very wet and windy morning. Her friends had left her alone she later told gardaí.

She refused to give her name and address or tell him where she was going, said Garda Dowling. Her eyes were bloodshot and her speech slurred, he added.

She phoned Garda Dowling since then to apologise, he told Judge Mur- rough Connellan. ‘She is taking steps to address her drink problem,’ he said.

‘Taxi drivers sometimes get bad press, but he is to be applauded,’ said Judge Connellan. He dismissed the charged but advised Hall to think about her attitude in refusing to give gardaí her name and address.
