THE WICKLOW triathletes braved wintery conditions this weekend at their country training camp last weekend.

The athletes base was Coolattin Health Lodge, in Coollattin, in the south of the county.

The club had planned to cycle from Bray to Coollattin on Saturday morning, but due to the icy conditions near Bray, they decided to drive down and start their cycle from there. Road conditions were considerably better in Coolattin, but black ice caught a few riders out, although, luckily none were injured.

Saturday evening kicked off the clubs first social event of the 2009, with a banquet meal cooked by members of the club.

On Sunday, members freshened up with a 90 minute run in the fresh snow which had fallen earli- er that morning, before having a hearty breakfast and thawing out in front of the wood burning stoves in their accommodation in Coollattin.

These training weekends are an integral part of the clubs training regime, but put great emphasis on the all important social aspect of the club.
