Aine and Katie in action for Ireland
BOTH AINE O’Gorman and Katie Taylor played a part in the Republic of Ireland’s 3-0 friendly victory over Reading on Monday night at the AUL.
O’Gorman even managed to get herself on the scoresheet, while Taylor created a goal after her shot was tapped in after coming off the post.
Both women came off the bench and Ireland doubled their lead after 54 minutes when Taylor produced a sublime shot from 20 yards, and her effort beat the keeper but hit the post before Ireland’s all-time record goalscorer, Olivia O’Toole was on hand to force the ball over the line.
O’Toole was involved yet again in Ireland’s third goal as she created space for herself to play the ball into substitute, Aine O’Gorman at the edge of the box. The Stella Maris striker coolly chipped the ball over the on-rushing keeper for a classy finish after 65 minutes.
The match was seen as the beginning of their preperations for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers.
