McShane hopes to win fitness race
REPUBLIC OF IRELAND manager Giovanni Trapattoni will today make a late decision on the fitness of Kilpedder native Paul McShane ahead of tonight’s World Cup Qualifier against Georgia.
McShane, 23, sat out training on Sunday, but did take part in Monday’s session in Malahide.
The Sunderland defender reported for international duty despite still suffering the effects of the hamstring injury he suffered during his side’s victory over Fulham when he appeared as a second-half substitute and has missed Sunderland’s last three games as a result.
The former St. David’s student is listed in the provisional starting 11 and a final decision on his fitness will be made closer to kickoff.
