Bray People - - Around The Gaa Clubs -

The juvenile club would like to welcome all the boys and girls who registered with the club today to the club for 2009.

Over 220 children attended on the day, with 65 of them new to the club, and this figure when combined with the current members unable to attend means the club will build on the impressive growth shown last year. Final juvenile numbers will be available by the end of the month when all teams are back in training.

Many thanks to all who helped make the day run so smoothly, both in the preparation and all those who helped out at the Gael Colaiste. A special word of thanks to Gerry Arthur who ran the ‘club crèche’ on the Astro pitch, where a game of football involving juvenile members of all ages ran for the two hours of the registrations. Gerry needed all his refereeing skills to keep control of the large numbers playing, and it was great to see all our juvenile members having fun together.

The U-13 internal league continued on Saturday last in icy conditions, full match reports, results and league tables are available on the website at www.arklow League continues this Saturday at 4 p.m. at the Astro pitch in Pearse park.

All juvenile teams are back in training over the next week or two, with training times and venues available from club coaches and administrators, and on the team pages on the club website.

Our biggest club social of the year, the Arklow Geraldines Ballymoney Gala Ball is on the 21st of February in the Arklow Bay Hotel. This is a great opportunity for new members to be introduced to the the club and for the different sections of the club to get together and have a great night.

The tickets are €40 and this covers a mulled wine and jazz reception, a four-course meal, followed by music and dancing well into the early hours of the morning. Please contact any club committee member for tickets or send your enquiry to info@arklow

The ladies had no match at the weekend due to the bad weather conditions, keep an eye on the website for fixtures regarding both the league and the Senior Cup. Finally the ladies would like to say a huge thanks to Christy’s who have agreed to sponsor both the Junior and Senior ladies this year and the men’s would like to say a huge thank you to D’Arcy McGee’s for sponsoring the men’s squad for the coming year.
