Draws made for competitions to mark 125th anniversary
TO MARK the 125 anniversary celebrations of the GAA, Wicklow has organised knock-out competitions in football and hurling involving all clubs in the county.
Draws in hurling and football were made on Monday night and the competitions will be commencing in the next few weeks.
With clubs and teams ranging from Senior down to Junior B, the weaker team in each fixture will have home venue and extra-time will be played where a match ends in a draw.
However, the semi-finals and finals will be played at neutral venues. Clubs must line out without their county players if those players are required by county teams managements.
Thirty seven clubs are entered in the 125 football competition and the draw is: preliminary round - Carnew Emmets v. Tinahely (A); Knockananna v. Kilcoole (B); St. Patrick’s v. Baltinglass (C); Eire Og v. Avondale (D); Kilmacanogue v. Donard/Glen (E).
Round one: Rathnew v. AGB (1); Kilbride v. An Tochar (2); Fergal Og v. Stratford (3); Kiltegan v. Bray Emmets (4); Dunlavin v. Coolkenno (5); Laragh v. Aughrim (6); Ballymanus v. Blessington (7); Ballinacor v. A (8); E. v. Hollywood (9); Avoca v. Barndarrig (10); Valleymount v B (11); Ashford v. Shillelagh (12); Enniskerry v. Annacurra (13); Lacken v. Newcastle (14); D v C (15); Coolboy v. Newtown (16).
