Two held after gun attacks
ARRESTS MADE FOLLOWING SHOOTINGS
TWO MEN have been arrested by Bray Gardai following a series of shootings in the town.
The men, both in their 20s, were released without charge on Monday night after several hours of questioning. Gardai said a file is being drawn-up and will be sent to the DPP.
The arrests follow three shooting incidents in Bray in less than three months, believed to be linked to the activities of local drugs gangs. Gardai are testing cartidge cases from the scenes of the incidents to determine whether the same weapon was used in the shootings and whether there is a connection with a notorious criminal operating in town. Cllr. John Brady referred to the arrests as a ‘big breakthrough,’ but warned that he feared there could be more violence.
‘I am worried that it is only a matter of time before Gardaí are investigating a murder,’ he said.
