Barbara bucks trend by hiring 50 new workers
ONLINE DEMAND BUSINESSWOMAN ANNOUNCES STAFF RECRUITMENT
BRAY WOMAN Barbara Gordon is shrugging off the recession by taking on 50 new sales staff to drive expansion of her business whatswhat.ie and provide much-needed job opportunities for the newlyredundant.
She made the announcement this week, saying that a substantial increase in internet traffic has given her the opportunity to boost the workforce of the local company, bucking the current trend of layoffs and pay-cuts.
Ten area managers and 40 sales agents will be hired across the country. ‘More and more people are using the internet to seek out the best value,’ said Sian Phillips, financial director of Whatswhat.ie.
The website is an online directory with a listing of more than 60,000 companies and 4,000 visitors every day. The site boasts traffic of up to 3.5 million hits a month. ‘The time has come to contin- ue our expansion drive by increasing our sales team,’ said Sian.
