Wait over as Fianna Fáil to reveal local election candidates

FIANNA FAIL headquarters have sent out letters this week to all nominees for the East Wicklow Electoral Constituency to let them know who will be included on the party ticket for the local elections.

While it has yet to be confirmed, all the early indications are that it will be a three party ticket made up of Cllr. Pat Casey, Jane Dignam and Gail Dunne.

Cllr. Casey already sits on the county council after a successful campaign in the 2004 local elections. Mr. dunne from Wicklow town is the secretary of the Michael Dwyer Cumann and works for Wicklow County Council. He is very highly thought of in football circles having led St. Patrick’s GAA side to two senior championships during his tenure as manager.

Jane Dignam is heavily involved with the Rathnew Development Association and the St. Brigid’s Hall Restoration Committee, as well as other initiatives taking place in Rathnew and elsewhere. It seems that the nominees missing out will be former GAA County Chairman Mick O’Hagan and Luke Rickard of the Newtownmountkennedy cumann.
