Dole figure up 561 in a month
UNEMPLOYMENT figures in Bray have continued to rise this month, with 561 more people signing on since the last set of figures were release by the CSO over four weeks ago.
There are now 3,850 people signing on in Bray, compared to 1,937 in January 2008. This represents a total increase of 99 per cent in just one year.
Of those, the majority are men aged 25 and over – this particular group amounting to 2,039 people.
Measures have been put in place at the social welfare office in the town to cope with huge numbers of people standing in queues to sign on, including an alphabetical queuing system and staggered times of appointment.
