A MAN WHO tried to pay a speeding fine on a number of occasions had the charge against him struck out at last Tuesday’s sitting of Wicklow District Court.

Laurence Whelan, Greenhall, Tinahely, Arklow was charged with exceeding the regional and local speed limit of 80km/h at Mongnacool Lower, Ballinaclash on April 17, 2008.

Whelan (30) was in court to meet the charge and said he had tried to pay the notice on a number of occasions but it had been returned to him because the processing office said the Laser details were incorrect which they were not.

Judge Murrough Connellan then struck out the charge.
