Safe catering pack now available food businesses
FOOD businesses in Wicklow can now avail of a new Safe Catering Pack from the Food Safety Authority.
Last week the Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) published a comprehensive Safe Catering Pack which will assist over 29,000 food service businesses nationwide to meet their legal requirement to manage food safe- ly. The pack has been developed principally for catering businesses, but is also relevant for retailers who have a catering function in their business. Mary Wallace, TD, Minister for Health Promotion and Food Safety at the Department of Health and Children launched the pack which consists of a DVD, workbook and record books.
It is ideal for food businesses that have not yet developed their own food safety management system, but is also useful for businesses who wish to improve existing systems. The pack has been produced in response to European food hygiene legislation which stipulates that all food businesses, including caterers, apply food safety management procedures based on the principles of Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP).
‘Safe Catering – Your Guide to Making Food Safely’ is available to purchase for €60 from the Food Safety Authority of Ireland through the Advice Line on 1890 336677. The cost includes the workbook, the set of eight record books and the DVD.
