Safe ca­ter­ing pack now avail­able food busi­nesses

FOOD busi­nesses in Wick­low can now avail of a new Safe Ca­ter­ing Pack from the Food Safety Au­thor­ity.

Last week the Food Safety Au­thor­ity of Ire­land (FSAI) pub­lished a com­pre­hen­sive Safe Ca­ter­ing Pack which will as­sist over 29,000 food ser­vice busi­nesses na­tion­wide to meet their le­gal re­quire­ment to man­age food safe- ly. The pack has been de­vel­oped prin­ci­pally for ca­ter­ing busi­nesses, but is also rel­e­vant for re­tail­ers who have a ca­ter­ing func­tion in their busi­ness. Mary Wal­lace, TD, Min­is­ter for Health Pro­mo­tion and Food Safety at the Depart­ment of Health and Chil­dren launched the pack which con­sists of a DVD, work­book and record books.

It is ideal for food busi­nesses that have not yet de­vel­oped their own food safety man­age­ment sys­tem, but is also use­ful for busi­nesses who wish to im­prove ex­ist­ing sys­tems. The pack has been pro­duced in re­sponse to Euro­pean food hy­giene leg­is­la­tion which stip­u­lates that all food busi­nesses, in­clud­ing cater­ers, ap­ply food safety man­age­ment pro­ce­dures based on the prin­ci­ples of Haz­ard Anal­y­sis Crit­i­cal Con­trol Points (HACCP).

‘Safe Ca­ter­ing – Your Guide to Mak­ing Food Safely’ is avail­able to pur­chase for €60 from the Food Safety Au­thor­ity of Ire­land through the Ad­vice Line on 1890 336677. The cost in­cludes the work­book, the set of eight record books and the DVD.
