SCHOOL NEWS

Opera Tran­si­tion Year and Leav­ing Cer­tifi­cate Ap­plied stu­dents were vis­ited by Opera singer Liz Ryan last Thurs­day. The stu­dents learned about the Ital­ian ori­gins of opera, as well as the many types of opera. The stu­dents thor­oughly en­joyed the visit and would like to thank Ms. Ryan and Mu­sic teacher Mr. Buddy Boland.

LOG ON LEARN

Tran­si­tion year stu­dents are con­tin­u­ing to de­liver one to one com­puter tu­to­ri­als to se­nior mem­bers of the com­mu­nity un­der the Log On Learn ini­tia­tive.. Stu­dents have teamed up with their ‘stu­dents’ and are teach­ing them the ba­sics in Word, Ex­cel and use of the in­ter­net.

MEN­TOR­ING PRO­GRAMME A

Last Thurs­day evening, Sixth Year stu­dents in­volved in the Men­tor­ing Pro­gramme at­tended Mock In­ter­views at Bank of Ire­land IT head­quar­ters in Cabin­teely. The in­ter­views were hosted by bank­ing of­fi­cials and Uni­ver­sity Pro­fes­sors and gave stu­dents a great op­por­tu­nity to brush up on their in­ter­view tech­niques in prepa­ra­tion for life af­ter school. Well done.

MID-TERM BREAK

Staff and stu­dents are cur­rently en­joy­ing a well de­served mid-term break. We look for­ward to wel­com­ing every­one back on Mon­day Fe­bru­ary 23.
