ST. ANNE’S PARISH
Times of Masses: Mass is celebrated in St. Anne’s Church at 10am Monday to Saturday. Weekend Mass times are 6.30pm Saturday Vigil Mass and Sunday at 8am, (9am in St. Columcille’s Hospital), 10.30am (Family Mass), 12 Noon and 6pm. Confessions are heard on Saturdays after the 10am Mass, between 12.30pm and 1pm and after the 6.30pm Mass.
Miraculous Medal: Miraculous Medal Devotions take place at the Monday 10am Mass.
Baptisms: Baptisms take place in St. Anne’s Church at 12.45pm on the 1st Sunday of the Month and at 5pm on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Saturdays of the Month. A month’s notice is required. Please contact Parish Secretary Jack Williams in St. Anne’s Parish Office in St. Anne’s Resource Centre to make your arrangements. Please note that when visiting the Parish Office to arrange a baptism, the child’s birth certificate should be brought with you.
Parish Office Hours: The Parish Office is open 9am to 4pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. St. Anne’s Resource Centre is open 9.30am to 5pm each weekday. Those requiring Baptism / Confirmation certificates or application forms for Baptism can obtain them during the above hours.
House Blessin : We have two homes – the church is our home and our own house is our home. If you would like a priest to call by and bless your home, Fr. Michael O’Dwyer is available to do this. To make arrangements, please call the Parish Office at 282 2277.
Morning Prayer: Morning Prayer is said each weekday morning at 9.25am in St. Anne’s Church and all are welcome to attend.
Lourdes Pilgrimage: The Parish Pilgrimage to Lourdes will depart from Shankill on 18 August – further details will be announced shortly.
Gospel Choir: Following the great success of the recent visit to Shankill by the Dublin Gospel Choir, has anyone been inspired to join a Shankill based choir? If there are any mature singers out there who would like join the type of choir that gets people in the aisle. Then please get in contact with Elaine Hogan in St. Anne’s Resource Centre and make yourself known.
Parish Pastoral Council: Another of the matters discussed at the February meeting was a Parish Mission which will take place from 16th May to 27th May and will be given by St. Patrick’s Missionary Team, a team of lay men and women.
Child Protections Policy: St. Anne’s Parish is fully compliant with the Diocesan Policy on Child Protection with the Parish Child Protection Statement displayed prominently in the Church porches, Sacristy, St. Anne’s Resource Centre and schools.
Day Retreat: On Saturday February 28, Sr. Maeve Heaney, VDM, will give a day retreat in St. Anne’s Resource Centre from 10.30am to 5pm with Mass at 4pm – participants are asked to bring a packed lunch.
Attention Teenagers: The day after the Saturday, February 28 Day Retreat (Sunday, March 1st) Sr. Maeve invites teenagers to St. Anne’s Resource Centre for a day of discussion, prayer and music for Lent. ACCORD: ACCORD, the Dublin Diocesan Agency for Marriage and the Family, is planning an initiative in Shankill in the near future and invites married couples to take part in a Marriage Enrichment Course which will run for one evening each week for four weeks in St. Anne’s Resource. Divine Mercy: The Devine Mercy Group meets tonight (Wednesday) in St. Anne’s Resource Centre from 8 to 9pm. At the weekend the 18th Conference of Divine Mercy takes place in the R.D.S. Dublin.
Collection: This weekend the monthly church door collection in aid of the Shankill Conference of the St. Vincent de Paul Society will take place.
Services of Worship in Rathmichael Church for this Sunday – the Sunday before Lent – are 8am Holy Communion, 11am Morning Prayer followed by coffee afterwards in the Erck Hall and 7pm Holy Communion – Lector Sonia Appelbe.
Ash Wednesday: Next Wednesday night there will be a special Ash Wednesday Service at 7pm at which the Preacher will be Rev. Canon Cecil Hyland. As part of our Christian journey of discovery this year we are offering a series of 4 Lenten Bible Study meetings. These meetings will held in the Erck all and will be of an open and informal format and very much geared to the lay person. Canon Cecil Hyland has been invited to preach on Bible Study at our Ash Wednesday Service to inspire us and launch this project. The Bible Study meetings will be held on the four subsequent Wednesdays in Lent – March 4th, 11th, 18th and 25th – and will have a different leader each week. Bibles will be provided and full details of the readings will be published in the March Newsletter.
MUMS AND TODDLERS
The Rathmichael Mums and Toddlers Group meets on Wednesday mornings at 10.30am in the Erck Hall beside Rathmichael Church.

SHANKILL GUILD ICA
Meetings of the Shankill Guild ICA takes place at 8pm on the second Monday of each month in the Shankill Old Folks Association Day Centre, Lower Road, Shankill.
The Guild’s Activity Night takes place at 8 p.m. on the third Monday of each month in the Shankill Old Folks Association Day Centre.
The Craft Morning takes place each Wednesday from 10.30am to 1pm in St. Anne’s Resource Centre.

At the next meeting of Rathmichael Historial Society on Wednesday, March 4, Mary Kelly will present a lecture covering the Glendalough manuscript entitled ‘Cum Passione Contraria’. The talk begins at 8 p.m. in Rathmichael School.
Members of the Society have been invited to next Wednesday night’s rescheduled lecture of the BallybrackKilliney History Society at 8pm in the Parochial Hall of SS Alphonsus and Columba Church.

Dublin Bus has announced that it has terminated the Monday to Thursday Nitelink service due to low passenger numbers. The routes servicing Shankill affected by this decision are the 7n and 84n.
OLD FOLKS ASSOCIATION
The Shankill Old Folks Association is always glad to welcome new members to ‘The Club‘ which is held in the Shankill Old Folks Association Centre on Lower Road every Wednesday from 2pm to 4pm. Transport can be arranged – call 2826364. Voluntary helpers are always welcome too – in the day centre, with Meals on Wheels or during the First Saturday Book Sales.
A new six-week term commences in St. Anne’s Resource Centre next Monday night at 10pm and the following Wednesday night at 6.30pm. A pregnancy yoga course will commence on Wednesday March 5 – further information from Aoife at 087-9317922.

FLIP A PANCAKE
Anna and Aisling from in the St. Anne’s Parish Office are raising funds for sick children. On Shrove Tuesday (i.e. next Tuesday) they will be flipping pancakes in St. Anne’s Resource Centre for the kids in the National Children’s Hospital in Tallaght. All they need, apart from strong wrists is your support – so please call in on Tuesday morning and help out a very good cause.
