ST. ANNE’S PARISH

Times of Masses: Mass is cel­e­brated in St. Anne’s Church at 10am Mon­day to Satur­day. Week­end Mass times are 6.30pm Satur­day Vigil Mass and Sun­day at 8am, (9am in St. Colum­cille’s Hospi­tal), 10.30am (Fam­ily Mass), 12 Noon and 6pm. Con­fes­sions are heard on Satur­days af­ter the 10am Mass, be­tween 12.30pm and 1pm and af­ter the 6.30pm Mass.

Mirac­u­lous Medal: Mirac­u­lous Medal De­vo­tions take place at the Mon­day 10am Mass.

Bap­tisms: Bap­tisms take place in St. Anne’s Church at 12.45pm on the 1st Sun­day of the Month and at 5pm on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Satur­days of the Month. A month’s no­tice is re­quired. Please con­tact Parish Sec­re­tary Jack Wil­liams in St. Anne’s Parish Of­fice in St. Anne’s Re­source Cen­tre to make your ar­range­ments. Please note that when vis­it­ing the Parish Of­fice to ar­range a bap­tism, the child’s birth cer­tifi­cate should be brought with you.

Parish Of­fice Hours: The Parish Of­fice is open 9am to 4pm Mon­day, Tues­day, Thurs­day and Fri­day. St. Anne’s Re­source Cen­tre is open 9.30am to 5pm each week­day. Those re­quir­ing Bap­tism / Con­fir­ma­tion cer­tifi­cates or ap­pli­ca­tion forms for Bap­tism can ob­tain them dur­ing the above hours.

House Blessin : We have two homes – the church is our home and our own house is our home. If you would like a priest to call by and bless your home, Fr. Michael O’Dwyer is avail­able to do this. To make ar­range­ments, please call the Parish Of­fice at 282 2277.

Morn­ing Prayer: Morn­ing Prayer is said each week­day morn­ing at 9.25am in St. Anne’s Church and all are wel­come to at­tend.

Lour­des Pil­grim­age: The Parish Pil­grim­age to Lour­des will de­part from Shankill on 18 Au­gust – fur­ther de­tails will be an­nounced shortly.

Gospel Choir: Fol­low­ing the great suc­cess of the re­cent visit to Shankill by the Dublin Gospel Choir, has any­one been in­spired to join a Shankill based choir? If there are any ma­ture singers out there who would like join the type of choir that gets peo­ple in the aisle. Then please get in con­tact with Elaine Ho­gan in St. Anne’s Re­source Cen­tre and make your­self known.

Parish Pas­toral Coun­cil: An­other of the mat­ters dis­cussed at the Fe­bru­ary meet­ing was a Parish Mis­sion which will take place from 16th May to 27th May and will be given by St. Pa­trick’s Mis­sion­ary Team, a team of lay men and women.

Child Pro­tec­tions Pol­icy: St. Anne’s Parish is fully com­pli­ant with the Dioce­san Pol­icy on Child Pro­tec­tion with the Parish Child Pro­tec­tion State­ment dis­played promi­nently in the Church porches, Sac­risty, St. Anne’s Re­source Cen­tre and schools.

Day Re­treat: On Satur­day Fe­bru­ary 28, Sr. Maeve Heaney, VDM, will give a day re­treat in St. Anne’s Re­source Cen­tre from 10.30am to 5pm with Mass at 4pm – par­tic­i­pants are asked to bring a packed lunch.

At­ten­tion Teenagers: The day af­ter the Satur­day, Fe­bru­ary 28 Day Re­treat (Sun­day, March 1st) Sr. Maeve in­vites teenagers to St. Anne’s Re­source Cen­tre for a day of dis­cus­sion, prayer and mu­sic for Lent. AC­CORD: AC­CORD, the Dublin Dioce­san Agency for Mar­riage and the Fam­ily, is plan­ning an ini­tia­tive in Shankill in the near fu­ture and in­vites mar­ried cou­ples to take part in a Mar­riage En­rich­ment Course which will run for one evening each week for four weeks in St. Anne’s Re­source. Di­vine Mercy: The Devine Mercy Group meets tonight (Wed­nes­day) in St. Anne’s Re­source Cen­tre from 8 to 9pm. At the week­end the 18th Con­fer­ence of Di­vine Mercy takes place in the R.D.S. Dublin.

Col­lec­tion: This week­end the monthly church door col­lec­tion in aid of the Shankill Con­fer­ence of the St. Vin­cent de Paul So­ci­ety will take place.

RATH­MICHAEL COI

Ser­vices of Wor­ship in Rath­michael Church for this Sun­day – the Sun­day be­fore Lent – are 8am Holy Com­mu­nion, 11am Morn­ing Prayer fol­lowed by cof­fee af­ter­wards in the Erck Hall and 7pm Holy Com­mu­nion – Lec­tor So­nia Ap­pelbe.

Ash Wed­nes­day: Next Wed­nes­day night there will be a spe­cial Ash Wed­nes­day Ser­vice at 7pm at which the Preacher will be Rev. Canon Ce­cil Hy­land. As part of our Chris­tian jour­ney of dis­cov­ery this year we are of­fer­ing a se­ries of 4 Lenten Bi­ble Study meet­ings. Th­ese meet­ings will held in the Erck all and will be of an open and in­for­mal for­mat and very much geared to the lay per­son. Canon Ce­cil Hy­land has been in­vited to preach on Bi­ble Study at our Ash Wed­nes­day Ser­vice to in­spire us and launch this project. The Bi­ble Study meet­ings will be held on the four sub­se­quent Wed­nes­days in Lent – March 4th, 11th, 18th and 25th – and will have a dif­fer­ent leader each week. Bi­bles will be pro­vided and full de­tails of the read­ings will be pub­lished in the March News­let­ter.

MUMS AND TOD­DLERS

The Rath­michael Mums and Tod­dlers Group meets on Wed­nes­day morn­ings at 10.30am in the Erck Hall be­side Rath­michael Church.

Meet­ings of the Shankill Guild ICA takes place at 8pm on the sec­ond Mon­day of each month in the Shankill Old Folks As­so­ci­a­tion Day Cen­tre, Lower Road, Shankill.

The Guild’s Ac­tiv­ity Night takes place at 8 p.m. on the third Mon­day of each month in the Shankill Old Folks As­so­ci­a­tion Day Cen­tre.

The Craft Morn­ing takes place each Wed­nes­day from 10.30am to 1pm in St. Anne’s Re­source Cen­tre.

BOOK SALE

The next First Satur­day Book Sale, rais­ing funds for the Shankill Old Folks As­so­ci­a­tion and Meals on Wheels, takes place in the Shankill Old Folks As­so­ci­a­tion, Lower Road, on Satur­day March 7 be­tween 10am and 1pm.

As usual there will be an ex­cel­lent se­lec­tion of books on of­fer at bar­gain prices in ad­di­tion to DVDs and CDs. Do­na­tions of books are al­ways ap­pre-

ciated.

HIS­TOR­I­CAL SO­CI­ETY

At the next meet­ing of Rath­michael His­to­rial So­ci­ety on Wed­nes­day, March 4, Mary Kelly will present a lec­ture cov­er­ing the Glendalough man­u­script en­ti­tled ‘Cum Pas­sione Con­traria’. The talk be­gins at 8 p.m. in Rath­michael School.

Mem­bers of the So­ci­ety have been in­vited to next Wed­nes­day night’s resched­uled lec­ture of the Bally­brack­Killiney His­tory So­ci­ety at 8pm in the Parochial Hall of SS Alphonsus and Columba Church.

Dublin Bus has an­nounced that it has ter­mi­nated the Mon­day to Thurs­day Nitelink ser­vice due to low passenger num­bers. The routes ser­vic­ing Shankill af­fected by this de­ci­sion are the 7n and 84n.

OLD FOLKS AS­SO­CI­A­TION

The Shankill Old Folks As­so­ci­a­tion is al­ways glad to wel­come new mem­bers to ‘The Club‘ which is held in the Shankill Old Folks As­so­ci­a­tion Cen­tre on Lower Road ev­ery Wed­nes­day from 2pm to 4pm. Trans­port can be ar­ranged – call 2826364. Vol­un­tary helpers are al­ways wel­come too – in the day cen­tre, with Meals on Wheels or dur­ing the First Satur­day Book Sales.

YOGA

A new six-week term com­mences in St. Anne’s Re­source Cen­tre next Mon­day night at 10pm and the fol­low­ing Wed­nes­day night at 6.30pm. A preg­nancy yoga course will com­mence on Wed­nes­day March 5 – fur­ther in­for­ma­tion from Aoife at 087-9317922.

FLIP A PAN­CAKE

Anna and Ais­ling from in the St. Anne’s Parish Of­fice are rais­ing funds for sick chil­dren. On Shrove Tues­day (i.e. next Tues­day) they will be flip­ping pan­cakes in St. Anne’s Re­source Cen­tre for the kids in the Na­tional Chil­dren’s Hospi­tal in Tal­laght. All they need, apart from strong wrists is your sup­port – so please call in on Tues­day morn­ing and help out a very good cause.
