Fáilte Ire­land will run an Out­door Ac­tiv­i­ties themed Tourism Learn­ing Net­work in Co. Wick­low in 2009. Th­ese net­works are a Fáilte Ire­land ini­tia­tive aimed at own­ers and man­agers of small tourism busi­nesses. Out­door Ac­i­tiv­i­ties providers are be­ing in­vited to par­tic­i­pate in the Out­door Ac­tiv­i­ties Net­work. Places are lim­ited to 25 par­tic­i­pants.

There is a new ECDL night course start­ing on Tues­day 24 March from 7.30 to 9.30 p.m. ECDL is an in­ter­na­tion­ally recog­nised qual­i­fi­ca­tion which will deepen your knowl­edge of Microsoft Of­fice. Course cov­ers Ba­sic IT Con­cepts, File & File Man­age­ment, Word Pro­cess­ing, Spread­sheets, Data­base, Pre­sen­ta­tion, In­ter­net & Email. Satur­day 21 Fe­bru­ary in the Brock­agh Cen­tre and Glendalough. The Yoga Walk day is for any­body in­ter­ested in get­ting out in the fresh air, go­ing for a walk in the Wick­low area and also try­ing some yoga. The day will in­volve a yoga ses­sion in the morn­ing at 11 a.m. (no yoga ex­pe­ri­ence is re­quired) in the Brock­agh Cen­tre. Af­ter that, there will be a walk (about 4 hours long) in the Glendalough area, ideally up around the lakes and led by a walk­ing guide. The walk will be kept at a pace to suit every­one. A new Fit Walk Pro­gramme will start in the Brock­agh Cen­tre on Tues­day 3 March from 10 to 11 a.m. This is a five week course that will show you how to im­prove your fit­ness through walk­ing, ex­plain how to get the best fat burn­ing ben­e­fits, teach you good pos­ture and how to Stride­Walk and Pow­er­Walk. The Glendalough and District De­vel­op­ment AGM takes place on Tues­day March 3 in the Glendalough Ho­tel at 8 p.m.


Mu­si­cal The­atre/Singing Work­shops for chil­dren and teens con­tinue on Satur­day af­ter­noons in the Brock­agh Cen­tre from 2 to 4 pm. The work­shops are fa­cil­i­tated by Les­lie Dow­dall and Honor Hef­fer­nan, both of whom are well known in the mu­sic in­dus­try. Their aim is to help the stu­dents get the best out of their voices, and have the en­joy­ment of singing well and learn­ing new songs. Both Honor and Les­lie have been work­ing in­de­pen­dently with chil­dren for the past num­ber of years, Honor as the voice coach in The Ir­ish Academy of Dra­matic Art and Les­lie through her own com­pany, Mu­s­i­craft. Who talks to your child about drugs – can you? Com­mu­nity Aware­ness of Drugs (CAD) are run­ning a course on drugs aware­ness in the Brock­agh Cen­tre from Mon­day 20 April. The CAD ‘Fam­ily Fo­cus’ pro­gramme is a se­ries of six two and half hour ses­sions which pro­vides par­tic­i­pants with an op­por­tu­nity to up­date in­for­ma­tion on drugs and their ef­fects, ex­plore at­ti­tudes, be­liefs and de­ci­sions re­lated to drug mis­use and de­velop a fam­ily-ori­en­tated drug preven­tion strat­egy. An An­gel Work­shop will take place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Satur­day 28 March in the Brock­agh Cen­tre. Dur­ing this spe­cial day with the angels you will get to know how they can help you in your everyday life. Well done to the Round­wood Veri­ety Group for their fan­tas­tic per­for­mance of Joseph and the Amaz­ing Tech­ni­colour Dream Coat. The suc­cess of the show was a tes­ta­ment to the ded­i­ca­tion and hard work of all in­volved.
