Par­ent and Tod­dler Group: Call­ing all par­ents, grand­par­ents, guardians, child­min­ders etc. The Tod­dler Group meets ev­ery Wed­nes­day morn­ing in the Par­ents’ Room in St. Joseph’s Cen­tre.

En­rol­ment: Fe­bru­ary is school en­rol­ment month in Newtownmountkennedy. Com­pleted ap­pli­ca­tion forms, to­gether with a copy of Bap­tismal Cer­tifi­cate for chil­dren four years or older on July 1st 2009, must be re­turned to the school of­fice at Newtownmountkennedy Pri­mary School, on or be­fore Fri­day Fe­bru­ary 27.

Open Day: On Wed­nes­day af­ter­noon, Fe­bru­ary 18, the school will be open from 1pm to 2.30pm so that par­ents/grand­par­ents of preschool chil­dren can have an op­por­tu­nity to see the ex­cel­lent ed­u­ca­tional fa­cil­i­ties on of­fer in the school.

Mid-Term Break: School will be closed on Thurs­day and Fri­day, Fe­bru­ary 19 and 20 for mid-term break.


The Mil­len­nium Cup was held on Satur­day 31st last. Teams from all clubs in the East Coast In­door Bowl­ing League took part. There were teams from Gorey, Redcross, Wick­low, New­cas­tle, Kil­coole, and New­town. Grey­stones were un­able to take part.

The com­pe­ti­tion was played with three teams on each mat, in a round robin for­mat. There were two points for a win, one for a draw. Wick­low and New­town each got four points to reach the fi­nal. The fi­nal was played over 15 ends, af­ter which each team had the same score. A sud­den death end had to be played – New­town scored one and won the cup. Many thanks to all those who helped on the day as um­pires and mark­ers and in the kitchen.

The games be­tween Gorey B and New­town b for Mon­day and Wed­nes­day last had to be called off be­cause of bad weather. New­town are play­ing New­cas­tle in New­town on Mon­day 9.

Play­ing for New­town in the Mil­len­nium cup were M Martin, J Kearns, K Led­widch and B Burke.


Set Danc­ing is back in the Mill Room Kil­coole on Wed­nes­day, Fe­bru­ary 25 at 9 pm. All Wel­come.


North Wick­low Coun­try Mar­kets are back. All items sold are lo­cally pro­duced. The finest of jams and chut­neys, and breads and cakes will be on sale along with a wide va­ri­ety of plants and shrubs for the gar­dener and hand made cards for any spe­cial oc­ca­sion. Come along and sup­port lo­cal pro­duc­ers.
