Ark­low United teams in fly­ing form

ARK­LOW UNITED got off to a great start this week­end in their cup matches. First up was the U9A team against Ark­low Town at Fern­dale Park and like all lo­cal der­bys this was an ex­cit­ing game with United prov­ing to be the stronger side, hit­ting the net no less than five times, with goals from Glen Power, Ciarán O’Shea, Peter Hem­pen­stall and Rhys Lacey to put them through.

The U9Bs were at home to Ash­ford on Sun­day and this was a very tight match be­tween the two sides with Ark­low’s Shane Con­nolly scor­ing the only goal in the match to give United the win and se­cure their place in the semi­fi­nals.

The U-10 team met Ard­more Rovers at Fern­dale Park on the same morn­ing and this game had plenty of goals in it with Ark­low lead­ing 4-0 at half-time, goals from Shane Halpin, Ger Hack­ett and Cor­mac O’Shea.

Ard­more came back with three goals in the sec­ond-half, but Ark­low re­mained strong to hold on to se­cure the win.

The U-13 team played a strong games against Wolfe Tone at Fern­dale Park on Satur­day morn­ing with the Ark­low Side lead­ing 3-2 at half-time, fin­ish­ing up 5-2 when the whis­tle blew with goals from Jonathan Roche, Stephen Doyle and Eoghan Car­roll.

The U-12 Divi­sion 3 team trav­elled to Wick­low town for the play-off match at Fin­lay Park, and once again this team gave a great all round team per­for­mance with goals from Kevin O’Re­gan, Paddy Shee­han, Jack Fur­long and Daniel Wla­zlak to se­cure the win, to move Ark­low United up into Divi­sion 2.
