It’s been an eventful few weeks for the Rocks recently. The juvenile committee was reconstituted with the following officers being elected: Joe Gilbert: Chairman Billy Mellon: Vice-Chair Sinead Kehoe: Treasurer Derek Black: PRO John Somers: Secretary Niall O’Shea: Assistant Secretary.

The juveniles were in action in the under-10 competition recently. The U10s played the last round of the league section of the Tom Ryan indoor competition at the weekend. There were only two games in this round and they had two good wins. In the first game the were up against a young St. Pat’s team; the Rocks proved too strong and ran out comfortable winners. It was a very good team performance but Tom Somers stood out with four quick fire goals with his strike partner Jason Roche getting three. The second game was closer than the 4-0 scoreline would indicate. Kilcoole were the opposition this time and pushed hard for scores, but very strong defending from Quentin O’Reilly and Darragh Walker ensured that the scores never came. Again Tom Somers was the top scorer with two goals. In both games all subs were used and all put in good performances. The team finished in the runner up position and are now into the sem-finals of the cup. The final will take place on the 28th of this month with a presentation of medals and light refreshments for all the teams after in the Rocks’ clubhouse. All players are asked to make a big effort to be there on the day as with a full panel they are in with a very good chance of winning.

In other news the Rocks secured a new sponsor in Arklow Waste Disposal. This was solidified over the last week and will prove a winning combination for the upcoming season.
