Tráth na gCeist time
TRÁTH NA gCeist, the annual Cumann na mBunscol Cill Mhantáin quiz for primary school pupils takes place in the Brockagh Resource Centre Laragh on Friday 6th March, Dé hAoine 6ú Márta, beginning at 7.30 p.m. sharp.
This popular event, which often appeals to less sporting children, is now a fixture on our calendar for over ten years. A feature of the quiz is that is has been the smaller schools that have excelled in Tráth na gCeist over the years.
As usual, there will be a predominantly GAArelated theme to the quiz, with rounds on county grounds, picture rounds, questions on county sponsors, the ever popular identification of Wicklow clubs from the Gaeilge name and so on.
This being the 125th anniversary of the GAA, there are bound to be lots of questions on the foundation of the association. Much of this information is available in the Céim ar Aghaidh pack which each school received over the last couple of years.
Schools may enter two teams and pupils can be from any class. This is a fun night with the emphasis on participation, and each club is asked to bring along some items that can be raffled so that no pupil goes home empty-handed.
Due to an oversight last year refreshments were not provided, but that will not be the case this year.
Schools can send two teams and each team is requested to wear its school or club tracksuit. All teams are expected to be in the Brockagh Resource Centre no later than 7.15 p.m. so there can be a prompt start at 7.30 p.m.
For more information on the quiz please contact Geraldine Kelly in Kilmac on 01-2861934.
Slides from the various presentations that were given at the recent AGM of Cumann na mBunscol Náisiúnta are availabale to download on www.scoilsport.org. The AGM booklet is also avail to download in PDF format.
