COUNTY TRAIN­ING

The next train­ing for the county U-14 and county U-16 squads takes place on Sun­day, Fe­bru­ary 22 in Kil­coole. All play­ers are re­quested to be there for 10.45 a.m. If any play­ers can not at­tend please con­tact Suzanne Pear­son on 086-3400623.

U-14 play­ers se­lected to at­tend: Rachel Byrne, Ciara Byrne, Lorna Mal­lick, Aine O’Ke­effe (Knockananna); Ais­ling McCabe, Aoife Gaffney, Erin Ho­ran, Sinead Kelly (Kil­coole); Lot­tie Cullen, Stacey O’Neill, Shauna Marah, Thomasina Dick­en­son, Char­maine Hig­gins, Hay­ley An­der­son, Or­laith O’Donoghue (Glenealy); Kim O’Han­lon, Paula Daly (Bal­li­na­cor); Jodie Lifely, Aoife Shortt, Jes­sica Kear­ney (An­nacurra). at­tend, the more play­ers to turn out the stronger the train­ing. Clubs may send as many play­ers as de­sired, not nec­es­sary to be listed above.

COACH ED­U­CA­TION

The Na­tional Camogie Coach­ing Com­mit­tee will be giv­ing a Camogie Foun­da­tion Level Coach­ing Course run over two dates in Donard on Fri­day evening, 27th Fe­bru­ary and Satur­day morn­ing, 28th Fe­bru­ary.

This course is tar­geted at all men­tors/par­ents/teach­ers in­volved with ju­ve­nile teams in all Wick­low camogie clubs. The cost per per­son is €30. This is the lat­est coach­ing course which is be­ing rolled out in Wick­low and clubs should avail of this op­por­tu­nity to re­ceive the most up-to-date best prac­tices in camogie coach­ing.

It may be some con­sid­er­able time be­fore this course is avail­able again in Wick­low. There are a lim­ited num­ber of places avail­able for this course and to se­cure a place please con­tact Suzanne Pear­son, Sec­re­tary, Camogie County Board on 086-3400623 or Michael Neary (Chair­man) on 087-6884589.

COACH­ING WORK­SHOP

Paudie But­ler, Na­tional Hurl­ing Co-Co­or­di­na­tor will be vis­it­ing Donard on Wed­nes­day, 25th Fe­bru­ary at 7.30 p.m. to give a Camogie/Hurl­ing Fun­da­men­tals Work­shop. This work­shop is open to both ju­ve­nile camogie and hurl­ing men­tors and in­ter­ested par­ents. It is par­tic­u­larly tar­geted at coaches in­volved with play­ers in the 5-12 year age group. There is no charge on the night and all are wel­come to at­tend.

EASTER CAMOGIE CAMP

Wick­low County Camogie Board in as­so­ci­a­tion with Jenny Duffy of Le­in­ster Coun­cil is run­ning an Easter Camogie Camp on 14/15/16 April for ap­prox. 3-4 hours each day. Venue and cost to be con­firmed.

This camp is open to girls aged 10-16 who cur­rently play camogie with their school, club or county. The camp will be di­vided up into spe­cific age groups and a num­ber of high qual­ity in­ter-county coaches/guest play­ers will at­tend. Could all clubs please give no­tice of this camp to the rel­e­vant play­ers and their par­ents as soon as pos­si­ble. Fur­ther de­tails and ap­pli­ca­tion forms will be avail­able from the Camogie County Board early next month.

NEXT CAMOGIE COUNTY BOARD MEET­ING

Fol­low­ing on from a well at­tended and pro­duc­tive County Board meet­ing in Jan­uary the next meet­ing will take place on Tues­day, 24th Fe­bru­ary at 8.30 p.m. in Bal­li­na­cor.
