FOOTIE FANS can get ready for Soccer Sisters, an introduction to the sport for girls where they can learn to play in a fun, friendly and safe environment and hopefully bend it like Beckham.

Girls aged between 7 and 11 are invited to join the pro- gramme which is arranged by The FAI, Greystones United and Wicklow Local Sports Partnership.

The programme will introduce girls to basic movement, soccer skills, rules of the game and help to develop new friendships and interpersonal skills. Soccer Sisters will run for one hour a week from 4 p.m.-5 p.m. at Shoreline Leisure Centre, Mill Road, Greystones for 10 weeks. The cost of the programme is €30 per participant. Parents and guardians are also welcome to get involved as volunteers.

A pre-registration evening takes place next Wednesday at 4 p.m. in the leisure centre sports hall. The 10-week programme will begin on Wednesday March 11. Contact (01) 2878180, or Emma Martin, FAI women’s development officer on (086) 0489868.

The Greystones Tidy Towns team in great form as they are hard at work cleaning up the beach recently.
