Project welcomes all gardening fans
KEEN GARDENERS in Aughrim with plenty of community spirit are being asked to trawl through their old tools and equipment in a bid to help a new local initiative to get moving.
The brand new community gardening project aims to encourage, inform and teach local residents young and old all about organic gardening and to reap some rewards in the process in the form of fresh locally grown produce.
This voluntary and non-profit social project is open to all and is seeking as much local support as possible.
Anyone interested in getting involved is asked to grab their gardening gloves and turn up at the site across from the Aughrim GAA pitch at 2p.m. on Saturday, February 28.
As with any such project certain equipment is required so organisers are appealing for donations to include any of the following items; garden shed; bark mulch; cardboard ; paving slabs; gravel; lumber; reclaimed bricks; hand tools; shovels; forks; water butts; straw; organic potting compost; plant pots; watering cans; garden benches or garden furniture; trellising; gardening books.
All contributions will be gratefully accepted as will as many volunteers as possible.
