Judge quashes ‘texts’ conviction
A MAN WHO had sent threatening texts had his conviction quashed after the injured party withdrew her complaint before Judge Gerard Griffin at last week’s sitting of Wicklow Circuit Court.
Paul Hunt, Cholah, Sea Road, Kilcoole had received a six-month prison sentence and been fined €1,000 when convicted of the offence in the District Court. Last week Judge Griffin heard the injured party was in court and wanted to withdraw her complaint against Hunt. She told Judge Griffin was doing so of her own free will. Judge Griffin then allowed the appeal and vacated the order made in the District Court.
