AN Ashford woman convicted of driving without a licence and speeding has been ordered to pay fines of €300 at Arklow District Court.

Pauline Furlong from Newrath Stud was charged by Garda Fiona Furlong at Kish, Arklow on June 20, 2008.

The court heard that the defendant was travelling at 113km in an 80km per hour zone.

Judge Murrough Connellan tool charges of failure to produce documents into consideration but said that saying her licence was misplaced was not a valid excuse as all motorists are obliged to carry their licence with them while behind the wheel.
