Driver banned for three years

A MAN who told Ark­low District Court that he drove while in­tox­i­cated to get med­i­cal at­ten­tion af­ter an as­sault has been fined €850 and put off the road for three years.

James Red­mond from Beech Road, Ark­low was charged at Bal­li­na­cor on April 6, 2008 where a con­cen­tra­tion of 192mcg of al­co­hol to 100ml blood was recorded.

He was also charged with no in­sur­ance (user) and fail­ure to pro­duce doc­u­ments.

The court heard that Red­mond ac­cepts he should not have been driv­ing.
