County Wicklow L.T.C. update
THE MEN’S first team had a good 2-1 victory away to Malahide 1.
This victory will hopefully help to secure their standing in Class 1 next year. They still have one more match to play this coming Sunday.
The men’s second team lost 2-1 to Lansdowne 2 in Class 3. The team was captained by Brian Sammon and appear to have secured their standing in Class 3 after picking up points in each of their last three matches.
The third team also lost 2-1 to Donnybrook 4 in Class 4. After getting a tough draw it looks like they have secured a spot in Class 4 for next year.
The men’s 4th team lost 2-1 away to Sutton 5 and will maintain their Class 5 standing for next year. The men’s 5th team won 2-1 away to Glenageary 4. This victory has put them in contention to make the playoffs in Class 6.
Our men’s 6th team had a narrow 2-1 at home to Monkstown 6. The deciding match went all the way to a tiebreak in the third set when unfortunately Anthony O’Brien and Luke Mason in their first year playing senior leagues narrowly lost out 7-5.
The ladies first team had a difficult draw this year. They lost 3-0 away to Sutton 2. Liz Cooper and Carolyn Dempsey were unlucky to lose in a tie-breaker in the third set. Unfortunately the team has been relegated from Class 2.
It was a tough week for our 2nd, 3rd and 4th teams all losing out 3-0 while the 5th team lost 2-1 away to Greystones 6.
The ladies sixth team unfortunately ran into some tough opposition over the past few weeks and narrowly lost out 2-1 again this week. They just missed out on a place in the play-offs.
The next Club Night will be held on Friday, March 6, hotly followed by Spring Team Tennis commencing on Wednesday, March 11.
