WICKLOW TRIATHLETES took three of the top ten spots in the second of the ‘Dirty Triathlon Series’.

Bjorn Ludwig took second place, Andy Kavanagh took sixth place, followed closely by Cian McGrath.

Duathlon is a two sport event, which combines running and cycling. The athletes started with a 3.5km run followed by a 20km cycle followed by another 3.5km run. The races are used by triath- letes for training at this time of year when the water temperature for the full triathlon event, is not warm enough yet.

The team above are aiming to win the team event of the Irish Premier League Triathlon Series for 2009 and this result shows that their training is all going to plan.

Meanwhile the Wicklow Club have just launched the Ampibian King Aquathon Series for 2009. This involves, swimming and then running and all three races will take place on Bray Seafront on the evening of Wednesday, June 17, Wednesday, July 22 and Wednesday, August 19.

Entry will be available online through Active Europe and will be opening in the coming weeks.

The race series proved to be very popular in 2008, with Amphibian King of Bray providing us with some excellent prizes, 2009 will be even bigger and better.
