Doyle wins Sta­ple­ton Cup

THE SEV­ENTH round of the South­ern Cen­tre Ir­ish Cham­pi­onship was held by Le­in­ster Mo­tor Club in Aurora Wood Glen­cree Co. Wick­low re­cently. The “Sta­ple­ton Cup” was awarded to the over­all win­ner of the trial Seán Doyle. Seán took the Grade A class from his ri­val Paul McLough­lin (who is also Seán’s un­cle and men­tor for in­ter­na­tional events).

Grade B saw Seán’s younger brother Cil­lian ride to his best po­si­tion so far in third place.

Lo­cal men Brian McLough­lin and Johnny Car­roll rode to fifth and sixth places re­spec­tively.

Grade C saw Ger Red­den take sec­ond place, while Tom But­tler, Alan Stokes and Frankie Black­burn fought out a close en­counter fin­ish­ing in 8th, 9th and 11th re­spec­tively.

Grade D saw Em­met Stokes in fourth clear of a good bat­tle be­tween Jasper O’Toole and Rudy De Vreede for 9th and 10th place.

Bill O’ Toole rode to a fi­nal podium po­si­tion in Ju­nior B, while Ash­ford young gun Seán Phe­lan came fifth in Ju­nior C.
