Monaghan’s Cathal O’Connor went close to opening the scoring on 12 minutes when his shot went narrowly wide of Chris O’Connor’s left hand post. Bray’s first attempt at goal came after 28 minutes but Fernando’s free-kick on the right failed to trouble Kennedy in the Monaghan goal.

The best moment of the game came on the hour mark when Derek Foran’s pass set up Darren Forsyth but his great effort was brillantly turned over the crossbar by Kennedy.

Neither side threatened the opposition goalkeeper to any great extent in the closing stages as the match wound down.
