Heffernan does it again for Doncaster
PAUL HEFFERNAN’S red hot streak continued last Tuesday night (February 10) when he scored the only goal of his side’s 1-0 win over Bristol City.
‘The Heff’ latched onto a pass from James Coppinger in the fourth minute of the game and while the Bristol City defence appealed in vain for an offside flag that never came, Newtown man Heffernan slammed it past the City ‘keeper for what proved to be the winner.
Doncaster Rovers moved up to 15th in the Coca-Cola Championship thanks to this win, and they also became the in-form team in English football.
The Dons assistant manager Richard O’Kelly was rightly delighted after the match, and he of course had a few words of praise for the goalscorer.
‘ Heff had an excellent game tonight; not just his goal (that won the match) as his also did on Saturday,’ said the beaming Dons’ number two.
‘His work rate, his intelligent movement in the channels and his general hold-up play has been brilliant.’
Heffernan’s strike was his sixth of the season so far, making him the top goalscorer at the club.
