Gardaí appeal for witnesses after early morning fatal crash
GARDAI ARE appealing for witnesses to last week’s fatal car crash on the N11.
On Sunday, August 23, at 2.30 a.m. in the morning, 16-year-old Jason Canavan of Inchicore, Dublin was killed when the car he was travelling in struck a telephone pole at Ballinacor East. The driver of the vehicle, a 20 year old man from Dublin, was taken to St. Vincent’s Hospital.
The unfinished section of the N11 where the accident took place is a notorious blackspot for accidents. In a ten year period up to 2008 24 people were killed on this stretch of road, with 25 serious collisions.
The gardai are now looking for assistance as they continue to investigate the cause of the accident. Anyone travelling on the stretch of road between Jack White’s Pub and Lil Doyle’s Pub on the N11 around the time of the accident or in the vicinity of Barndarrig Service Station should contact Wicklow Garda Station on (0404) 60140 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.
