Good turnout for Inter Club Championship
SLIPSTREAM CYCLING Club held their Inter Club Championships race on Sunday. The race route was three laps of the old N11.
There was a good turn out for the race which saw a break away early on in the race which included Declan Kinch Slipstream C.C Alex Williams Slaney C.C. Dennis McCarthy Slipstream C.C Dave Walsh Wexford Wheelers and Alan Galvain Slaney C.C.
They managed to keep their lead from the chasing group, Dave Walsh Wexford took the honors of 1st place just beating Alex Williams Slaney C.C by a bike length, Declan Kinch Slipstream C.C took 3rd place Alan Galvain of Slaney C.C 4th and Dennis McCarthy Slipstream 5th. Just behind the leaders was the main bunch with Paul Bracken of the Slipstream team taking the prize for 1st unplaced.
Refreshments and the presentation of prizes were held in the loch gCarman Arms Gorey. The Slipstream Cycling Club would like to take this opportunit to thank all the Clubs for their support in the running of this race. In other Club news we would like to wish all the best to Kyle Murphy who is heading off to Wales tomorrow to represent his province of Leinster in the Welsh 2 Day event. And finally on the
19th September Slipstream Cycling Club along with James Tomkins Suzuki Garage Gorey are holding their annual fun Charity Cycle in aid of The North Wexford Hospice - Trustland St. Adains Day Care Centre. Sponsor cards are available at various points around Gorey. Starting point is 2.30pm at The Monument Gorey, the route is the old N11 through Inch - onto Arklow and back, light refreshments being offered> on the route at various points, followed by a barbecue in The Gorey Rugby Club for more information or sponsor cards contact James Tomkins 0862604097 or Sam D’Arcy 0539480713.
