Bray People - - SPORT -

WICKLOW 2ND XV recorded a fine win against an inexperienced Rathdrum seconds at Ashtown Lane on Saturday. Wicklow were determined to get their season off with a good win. They delivered an aggressive and determined performance to record an excellent victory

Rathdrum started well and soon had Wicklow under pressure. They scored two early tries and a shellshocked Wick- low side were 14-0 down in the first 10 minutes. Once they composed themselves and started to go through the phases they had far too much for Rathdrum. Tries from Scott Morton, Shaun O’Brien, Barra Kuntz, and a couple each from Ger Crowley and Anthony Clarke as well as an excellent kicking display from the outstanding Ronan Hurley saw Wicklow well out of sight.

This is again a very young panel who have fantastic potential. Debutants Jason Cooper and Ciaran Olohan gave impres- sive performances. Also the return of Barry Traynor and Alan Hunter to Wicklow colours gave Wicklow some much needed experience in the pack, where Barry Hurley was also outstanding. Overall a good day at the office for all concerned.
