Peugeot couple smash own fuel world record
HUSBAND AND wife, John and Helen Taylor, have smashed yet another Guinness World Record for best fuel consumption in their Peugeot 308 1.6 litre HDi 110bhp diesel hatchback. Authenticated by Guinness World Records, the duo circumnavigated the UK in a Peugeot 308 HDi with an amazing average economy of 2.23 litres / 100km (126.8MPG). Travelling over 5954km in 175 hours, they used just 29.1 gallons or 132 litres of diesel. That equates to just over two full fuel tanks at a cost of just €138.34* (2.3 cent per km). *AA Motoring August Average Fuel Prices
The couple, who previously set a world record in 2008 in Australia, when they achieved 1919km from a single tank in their 308 1.6 litre HDi diesel, have set the latest World Record in their standard Nera Black Peugeot 308 SR, loaded with touring luggage. David McConnell, Peugeot in Ireland’s Managing Director commented: ‘For a while now we’ve been telling customers that our low-CO2 Peugeot vehicles are very economical and fuel efficient. This most recent achievement by John and Helen Tay- lor fully illustrates the potential savings by driving and purchasing wisely.’
The Peugeot 308 is a comprehensive range, available in 3 and 5-door hatchback, SW estate and CC (Coupé Cabriolet), with a wide choice of petrol and HDi diesel engines. The Michelin Energy Saver tyres contribute to the high fuel economy.
