Two Mary’s classic is outstanding success
THE ‘TWO MARY’S memorial golf classic has now become one of the largest participating charity golfing events in County Wicklow.
A record entry of 61 teams topped off an outstanding day at the 7th annual golf charity event, known as the ‘Two Mary’s’, which took place in Greystones Golf Club on Friday July 3.
The format of the competition for this year was a four-person Scramble team event and the day proved to be an outstanding success with a record 244 people representing 61 teams taking part.
The winning team with a superb score of 52 (11 under gross) included three brothers, Gary, Brian and Stephen Larkin and Cian Madigan.
The nearest the pin prize was won by Gerard Cullen and the longest drive was won by David Lewis.
The night time entertainment was provided by ‘False Alibi’, which proved very popular as did the charity raffle, which followed the prize giving. The total amount raised on the day for Greystones and District Cancer Support was €7,550. The money was presented to Cllr. Kathleen Kelleher of the Greystones Cancer Support last week.
The organisers want to thank all their sponsors and especially Greystones Golf Club for their continued support for this event. The support from the sponsors enables the event to take place and raise much needed funds for this very worthwhile local charity according to organiser, Jason Bradshaw.
