Well done to all stu­dents who re­ceived their Ju­nior Cer­tifi­cate re­sults last Wed­nes­day. There were plenty of smiles and happy faces to be seen around the school, with many stu­dents re­ceiv­ing ex­cel­lent grades in many sub­ject ar­eas.


A re­minder to all par­ents and guardians of first year stu­dents that there will be an In­for­ma­tion Evening this Thurs­day, Septem­ber 17 at 8 p.m.


The AGM of the Par­ents As­so­ci­a­tion will take place this Thurs­day, Septem­ber 17 at 9p.m., im­me­di­ately af­ter the first year In­for­ma­tion Evening. Par­ents Coun­cil nom­i­na­tions will be ac­cepted on the night.


A re­minder to all that school will fin­ish at 12.30p.m. this Thurs­day, Septem­ber 17 for a staff meet­ing, Trans­port is not guar­an­teed at this time.


All fifth year stu­dents will at­tend the Higher Op­tions Con­fer­ence in Dublin on Wed­nes­day Septem­ber 16th. This con­fer­ence pro­vides stu­dents with an ex­cel­lent op­por­tu­nity to view the va­ri­ety of third level cour­ses which are on of­fer to them.


Our an­nual Anti-Bul­ly­ing Week will take place next week from Mon­day, Septem­ber 21 to Fri­day, Septem­ber 25. Stu­dents are en­cour­aged to de­velop an at­ti­tude and an aware­ness to­wards anti-bul­ly­ing. While at­ten­tion will be drawn to anti-bul­ly­ing in all sub­ject ar­eas, par­tic­u­lar fo­cus on the is­sue will be made in SPHE classes.


39 stu­dents and 4 staff mem­bers will soon be arriving from Wiesel­grensskolan, Helsin­borg in Swe­den for the sec­ond leg of the Swedish ex­change pro­gramme. Our stu­dents vis­ited Swe­den last year. We wish the Swedish vis­i­tors an en­joy­able stay with us.


A sin­cere thank you to the Par­ents As­so­ci­a­tion for the fund­ing sup­port we re­ceived for the re-equip­ping of one of the com­puter rooms in the school. This is a won­der­ful fa­cil­ity af­forded to all stu­dents for re­search and school­work.


On Tues­day Septem­ber 15th Tran­si­tion Year stu­dents will be given a pre­sen­ta­tion on “Moun­tjoy and Its Place in So­ci­ety” by John Doo­ley, a prison of­fi­cer from Moun­tjoy. As a fol­low on from this pre­sen­ta­tion our stu­dents will take part in a guided tour of Moun­tjoy Prison. This visit is due to take place in the com­ing weeks. On Mon­day, Septem­ber 14 and 21, Wick­low En­ter­prise Board will make a pre­sen­ta­tion to Tran­si­tion Year stu­dents on mini com­pa­nies and the work in­volved in set­ting th­ese com­pa­nies up. Tran­si­tion Year stu­dents will be tak­ing part in a two-day team build­ing pro­gramme in Causey Farm in Co. Meath this Thurs­day and Fri­day.


Es­to­nia is the lat­est des­ti­na­tion of the stu­dents and teach­ers in­volved in our two year Come­nius EU project. On 17th Septem­ber, three Fifth Year stu­dents and two teach­ers flew to Tallin for a four day visit to two schools who are tak­ing part in our mul­ti­lat­eral part­ner­ship. The stu­dents show­cased a 10 minute film made about Co­laiste Chraobh Ab­hann and the vil­lage of Kil­coole, and found out the re­sults of a fit­ness and health sur­vey car­ried out in all the par­tic­i­pat­ing schools. Our stu­dents also spent an evening teach­ing every­one on the Es­to­nian trip Ir­ish danc­ing! We will wel­come teach­ers and stu­dents from Turkey, Eng­land, Es­to­nia, Spain and Ger­many to Co­laiste Chraobh Ab­hann on Novem­ber 19 for a re­turn visit.
