FOUR GET BAIL AFTER BRUTAL ATTACK
MAN VICIOUSLY ASSAULTED OUTSIDE HIS HOME
A NUMBER OF PEOPLE accused of a brutal attack on a Bray man using a hatchet, golf clubs and snooker cues outside his Old Connaught View home last March, were all granted bail at Bray District Court last week.
Gardaí arrested Wesley O’Brien, 32 Ashlawn Court; Sean O’Connell, 7 Cronan’s Road; Dylan Nealan, 17 Thornhill View, and Emma O’Brien, 2 The Willows, Diamond Valley – all before 10 a.m. on Thursday morning.
They were charged with ‘intentionally or recklessly causing harm to Michael Connors of 30 Old Connaught View,’ as well as with carrying offensive weapons.
Each defendant is subject to a number of bail conditions, including a curfew of 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. They must also stay away from witnesses in the case, including the victim and a child who also saw the alleged attack.
Gardaí raised no objection to bail but asked that they each provide an independent surety for bail of €300 as well as their own bond of € 300. They were all remanded to a November date for the production of the book of evidence at Bray District Court. Michael Connors was attacked by a gang of youths outside his home on the night of Saturday, March 14, 2009. He sustained numerous injuries, including fractures and stab wounds.
The child who witnessed the onslaught suffered nightmares after the attack. Onlookers feared that the man had died, so severe was the beating. He made a full recovery.
