Kil­coole Com­mu­nity Thrift Shop are hold­ing a Mother’s Day Sale in Byrnes Mill Room on Sun­day March 14 from 3.00 p.m. to 6.00 p.m.

On the day, the Thrift Shop Com­mit­tee will present their first do­na­tion to the nom­i­nated group for March, which is the Se­nior Cit­i­zens Group.

The Com­mit­tee would like to thank every­one who has sup­ported the thrift shop so far. The group to ben­e­fit from April’s pro­ceeds will be an­nounced in next week’s notes.


The Par­ents As­so­ci­a­tion held their an­nual ta­ble quiz on Fe­bru­ary 25, and the evening was a great suc­cess. A to­tal of €1,685 was raised on the night, and the com­mit­tee would like to thank every­one who bought tick­ets, made do­na­tions and at­tended on the night.

A spe­cial word of thanks to Mrs Mary Byrne for her Tro­jan work sell­ing tick­ets. Thanks also to Si­mon Doyle and his team for cre­at­ing an­other en­ter­tain­ing quiz.

Con­grat­u­la­tions to the win­ners: P. Brad­shaw, M. Lay­ton, S. Dole and J. Byrne, with tie-breaker run­ners up K. Ver­bruggen, C. Ver­bruggen, D. Byrne and C. Thomp­son. Well done to all.


On Fri­day March 26 at 8.00 p.m. in St. An­thony’s Church Kil­coole, the Holy Redeemer Folk Group will present an evening of pop­u­lar and in­spi­ra­tional mu­sic. Tick­ets are priced at €10, and chil­dren un­der 12 are free.

Pro­ceeds are in aid of St. Vin­cent de Paul, and the Kil­coole Mu­sic Fes­ti­val. Tick­ets are avail­able at the door, and also from Co­lette on 087 6833206, Miriam on 087 9778255, from Kil­coole Phar­macy, Main Street, or the Parish Of­fice in Grey­stones.


The group will take their an­nual trip to the Mar­itime Ho­tel in Bantry from Mon­day April 5 to Fri­day April 9.

The next Gemma Ap­peal event in aid of the Liam Tighe fund will now be held in Lee’s Pub on Satur­day, March 13. Tick­ets are priced at €10, and are avail­able from Lees, or from the Gemma Ap­peal Com­mit­tee (Pappy Fraw­ley, Dickie Gam­mell, Paul Lewis). There will be lots of 60s and 70s mu­sic, with spot prizes. Fancy dress is es­sen­tial.
