Lifeguards wanted for the summer
COUNTY COUNCIL SEEKING APPLICATIONS
THE SUMMER is approaching, despite a chilly breeze that begs to differ, and the beaches of County Wicklow will need lifeguards for the season.
Wicklow County Council is seeking applications from beach lifeguards for the months of June, July and August 2010. The lifesaving summer staff were spared last year from the Government embargo on public sector recruitment.
Beaches that will take on life-saving personnel in the county will be Arklow, Brittas Bay, Bray, Greystones and Wicklow town.
Candidates must have a current Irish Water Safety ‘Beach Lifeguard Award,’ or the equivalent qualification from a different country.
They must also have knowledge of the use and care of lifesaving equip- ment and a thorough knowledge of resuscitation and basic first aid.
Anyone interested in the job must be at least 17 years of age on May 1 2010 and available to undergo and Irish Water Safety Lifeguard Test in Dublin on April 21 at 5.30 p.m.
The wages for the position are € 14 with a projected 40-hour working week and the deadline for applications is 4 p.m. on Friday March 26.
