TRIP TO MOSQUE As part of their study of World Re­li­gions our Sec­ond Year stu­dents trav­elled to the Is­lamic Cul­tural Cen­tre and Mosque in Clonskeagh. This trip has been very suc­cess­ful and en­joy­able in pre­vi­ous years and this year’s group sim­i­larly en­joyed the ex­pe­ri­ence. JU­NIOR FOOT­BALL Fol­low­ing their great win over Ark­low Com­mu­nity Col­lege our First Year Boys Foot­ball team has now qual­i­fied for the semi-fi­nal of the com­pe­ti­tion. Best wishes to all. SE­NIOR FOOT­BALL Our Se­nior Boys Foot­ball team had sim­i­lar suc­cess over Scoil Chonglais, Balt­in­glass in their match on Thurs­day. They will now take on Abbey Com­mu­nity Col­lege in the semi-fi­nals. Best wishes to all. UN­DER-16 BAS­KET­BALL An­other suc­cess­ful game for our Un­der-16 Girls Bas­ket­ball Team who beat Abbey Com­mu­nity Col­lege in a closely con­tested match on Tues­day. The team has now fin­ished top of the league in the Un­der-16 sec­tion of the Wick­low/Wex­ford com­pe­ti­tion. SEC­OND-YEAR BAS­KET­BALL Our Sec­ond Year Boys Bas­ket­ball Team has qual­i­fied for the semi-fi­nal of the South East League. The game is sched­uled for the com­ing week, best wishes to all. SE­NIOR GIRLS FOOT­BALL Our Se­nior Girls Foot­ball Team took part in a blitz on Wed­nes­day 10 March. De­spite a slow start their first match ended in a draw with Co­laiste Bhride, Carnew. They then played against St. Kil­lians but were un­lucky to lose by a point, nar­rowly miss­ing out on a semi-fi­nal place as a re­sult. UN­DER-14 SCHOOL’S HURL­ING On Wed­nes­day three of our stu­dents rep­re­sented the school on the County Schools Hurl­ing Team in a chal­lenge game. The stu­dents Adam Cooney, John O’Halloran and Bren­dan Hawes en­joyed their match and were de­lighted to rep­re­sent their school on the day. CHESS COM­PE­TI­TION On Wed­nes­day Avon­dale Com­mu­nity Col­lege hosted the sec­ond stage of the Chess Com­pe­ti­tion. Our team took sec­ond place on the day, los­ing out to a very strong team from Abbey Com­mu­nity Col­lege. Well done to our Sec­ond Year stu­dent Gra­ham Juste who re­ceived an award for Most Im­proved Player. TRANS NEWS Hav­ing read Alice Se­bold’s The Lovel Bones our Tran­si­tion Year stu­dents en­joyed a spe­cial screen­ing of the movie in the Gai­ety Cin­ema in Ark­low. The stu­dents en­joyed the op­por­tu­nity of see­ing how the novel was adapted for the big screen. Many thanks to the staff of Gae­ity Cin­ema who facilated this view­ing on Thurs­day morn­ing. RATH­DRUM TIDY TOWNS COM­MIT­TEE Our Tran­si­tion Year stu­dents will be join­ing the Tidy Town Com­mit­tee in the com­ing weeks. They will be plant­ing some new trees in the area in prepa­ra­tion for the up­com­ing Tidy Towns Com­pe­ti­tion. WORK EX­PE­RI­ENCE A spe­cial thanks to all of the em­ploy­ers who pro­vided our Fifth Year LCVP stu­dents with work ex­pe­ri­ence. CA­REERS On Thurs­day our Sixth and Fifth Year stu­dents en­joyed a talk from the staff of Water­ford In­sti­tute of Tech­nol­ogy about col­lege life and cour­ses avail­able on their cam­pus.
