A GANG of mindless thugs is making life hell for a Fassaroe woman.

The woman, who is in her 50s, said up to 30 youths are surrounding her house night after night, taunting her and hurling missiles at her home.

She says she now sits terrified at home in the dark to avoid being seen by her tormentors. ‘They are throwing stones and eggs at my home and at me,’ said the tearful victim, ‘they threw a spanner at me the other day when I left the front door open for a moment.

‘When I go out to the shop they shout nicknames at me, sexual things. They’re ten times more vicious if I go outside, with more of them gathering and gathering.’

She said that she has reported the abuse to the gardaí and the council but the campaign of intimidation continues. Neighbours are aware that the woman, who lives alone, is being targeted, but they are powerless to help her.

THE DEVASTATED VICTIM said that she has approached one of the parents but got nowhere.

‘Her son is an angel as far as she’s concerned,’ she said. Two friends have tried to help the woman clean the egg stains from her window but can’t remove the grime. ‘I don’t know what to do or where to go next.’

Damage caused to one of the windows at the house in Fassaroe.
