Satur­day, March 13 and Mon­day, March 15, 18 Hole Stable­ford com­pe­ti­tion: 1st He­len E McGoohan (26) 39 points; 2nd Pa­tri­cia O’Sul­li­van (23) 37 points; 3rd Pauline Walker (21) 35 points.

Our 2010 Lady Cap­tain Anna Rochford had her first hole in one on Tues­day, March 16 in the Open Team Event.

Anna was thrilled when her play­ing part­ners last year’s Cap­tains Steve McGuin­ness and Liz McGoohan con­firmed that her ball was rest­ing in the hole be­cause from the tee box she could not see where the ball had fin­ished.

It was on hole 5a the 145 yard par 3 that she achived her hole in one. Hope­fully this is a good omen for her year ahead.

Re­sults of the 14 Hole Sin­gles com­pe­ti­tion held on Thurs­day, March 11: 1st Fay McCoy (15) 33 points, 2nd Michael Camp­bell (17) 33 points, 3rd Ste­vie Dowl­ing (11) 32 points. Jerry Hal­li­han had a Hole-in-One on the 9th dur­ing this com­pe­ti­tion.

The re­sults of the 18-Hole com­pe­ti­tion held on Sun­day, March 14 are; 1st Robin Pearcy (11) 47 points, 2nd Garry Camp­bell (9) 46 points, 3rd Bren­dan Ja­cob (9) 42 points, 4th Ray Wheat­ley (14) 41 points.

Team Scram­ble held on St. Pa­trick’s Day; 1st Ger Mur­phy, Carol O’Brien, Thomas Mur­phy and Tom Vick­ers (54.1), 2nd Chris McEn­tag­gart, Sea­mus McDon­ald, Paul Maguire and Kevin O’Ma­honey (54.7), 3rd David De­laney, Don­nacha Mur­phy, Justin Whe­lan and Pat Dunne (54.7).

The win­ner of the first 9-Hole Mid-Week com­pe­ti­tion was Capt. Tom Byrne (14) with 21 points. Thurs­day March 18: 14-Hole Sin­gles Sweep; 1st Jos McGet­ti­gan (15) 35 points, 2nd Arthur Jame­son (17) 29 points.

The next open team event is planned for the Easter Week­end, Fri­day, Satur­day, with a so­cial and prize giv­ing on Satur­day evening.

Win­ter League: Well done to Joe Fa­gan’s team who de­feated Paddy Sam­mons team last Sun­day in the fi­nal of the Win­ter League by three matches to two and on Joey’s vic­to­ri­ous team were Michael Casey, Larry Daly, Jim Byrne and Tony Carter.

Com­mis­er­a­tions to the op­po­nents John McCormack, Gareth Whe­lan, Brian O’Hara and Louis Fa­gan on a fi­nal held in great sport­ing man­ner.

Ladies Re­sults: Win­ner: Mary Gorry (5) 35 points; Run­ner-Up: Carol Walsh (24) 35 points; 3rd: Mary Deegan (25) 34 points.

Bridge Ho­tel Golf So­ci­ety

The Bridge Ho­tel Golf So­ci­ety com­pe­ti­tion, played at Djouce Golf Club last week, re­sulted in a win for John Huz­zar with 41 points.

Class 1: Roy Broad­ers 35 points; Class 2: Thomas Halpin 40 points; Near­est The Pin: Thomas Halpin; Front 9: Fin­tan O’Con­nor 20 points; Back 9: Glynn Daven­port. 20 points.

Next week’s com­pe­ti­tion will be held at Black­wa­ter Golf Club, with tee-off at 11 o’clock.

Cor­ner House Golf So­ci­ety

The Cor­ner House Golf So­ci­ety are back in action for 2010 when they trav­elled to Black­wa­ter last Sun­day where new cap­tain Trevor Mel­lon was first to tee off.

A great turn out of 26 play­ers on the day and a lot of new mem­bers for this year.

Over­all win­ner on the day was Kevin O’Reilly, win­ner of Cat­e­gory 1 was Trevor Mel­lon, win­ner of Cat­e­gory 2 was Jim Nolan and win­ner of Cat­e­gory 3 was Paul Byrne who won on a count back from Brian Fitz­patrick.

The So­ci­ety would like to thank Pat Long for pro­vid­ing the food af­ter­wards in the Cor­ner House.
