Our 2010 Lady Captain Anna Rochford had her first hole in one on Tuesday, March 16 in the Open Team Event.
Anna was thrilled when her playing partners last year’s Captains Steve McGuinness and Liz McGoohan confirmed that her ball was resting in the hole because from the tee box she could not see where the ball had finished.
It was on hole 5a the 145 yard par 3 that she achived her hole in one. Hopefully this is a good omen for her year ahead.
Results of the 14 Hole Singles competition held on Thursday, March 11: 1st Fay McCoy (15) 33 points, 2nd Michael Campbell (17) 33 points, 3rd Stevie Dowling (11) 32 points. Jerry Hallihan had a Hole-in-One on the 9th during this competition.
The results of the 18-Hole competition held on Sunday, March 14 are; 1st Robin Pearcy (11) 47 points, 2nd Garry Campbell (9) 46 points, 3rd Brendan Jacob (9) 42 points, 4th Ray Wheatley (14) 41 points.
Team Scramble held on St. Patrick’s Day; 1st Ger Murphy, Carol O’Brien, Thomas Murphy and Tom Vickers (54.1), 2nd Chris McEntaggart, Seamus McDonald, Paul Maguire and Kevin O’Mahoney (54.7), 3rd David Delaney, Donnacha Murphy, Justin Whelan and Pat Dunne (54.7).
The winner of the first 9-Hole Mid-Week competition was Capt. Tom Byrne (14) with 21 points. Thursday March 18: 14-Hole Singles Sweep; 1st Jos McGettigan (15) 35 points, 2nd Arthur Jameson (17) 29 points.
The next open team event is planned for the Easter Weekend, Friday, Saturday, with a social and prize giving on Saturday evening.

18-Holes Singles Stableford: Winner: Niall Doogue (9) 38 points; Runner-up: Brian Deering (14) 37 points; 3rd: Michael Sleator (19) 37 points.
Winter League: Well done to Joe Fagan’s team who defeated Paddy Sammons team last Sunday in the final of the Winter League by three matches to two and on Joey’s victorious team were Michael Casey, Larry Daly, Jim Byrne and Tony Carter.
Commiserations to the opponents John McCormack, Gareth Whelan, Brian O’Hara and Louis Fagan on a final held in great sporting manner.
Ladies Results: Winner: Mary Gorry (5) 35 points; Runner-Up: Carol Walsh (24) 35 points; 3rd: Mary Deegan (25) 34 points.

Bridge Hotel Golf Society
The Bridge Hotel Golf Society competition, played at Djouce Golf Club last week, resulted in a win for John Huzzar with 41 points.
Class 1: Roy Broaders 35 points; Class 2: Thomas Halpin 40 points; Nearest The Pin: Thomas Halpin; Front 9: Fintan O’Connor 20 points; Back 9: Glynn Davenport. 20 points.
Next week’s competition will be held at Blackwater Golf Club, with tee-off at 11 o’clock.
Corner House Golf Society
The Corner House Golf Society are back in action for 2010 when they travelled to Blackwater last Sunday where new captain Trevor Mellon was first to tee off.
A great turn out of 26 players on the day and a lot of new members for this year.
Overall winner on the day was Kevin O’Reilly, winner of Category 1 was Trevor Mellon, winner of Category 2 was Jim Nolan and winner of Category 3 was Paul Byrne who won on a count back from Brian Fitzpatrick.
The Society would like to thank Pat Long for providing the food afterwards in the Corner House.
