Sugarloaf are held by Enniskerry

Bray People - - SPORT -

SUGARLOAF FC missed their big chance to catch up with Enniskerry YC after only managing a 0-0 draw at home to the league leaders on Sunday morning.

A win would have seen the Bray side cut Enniskerry’s lead to four points, with the Youth Club having played an extra match.

But this draw leaves Enniskerry knowing that three wins from their last four games will win them the First Division 1 crown.

Greystones United played their penultimate league game at the weekend and that saw them lose 3-0 to Arklow United at Ferndale Park.

Stephen Fox, Stephen Kinsella and Ger Earls were the marksmen for the Arklow side as they edged closer to a Charlie Bishop Cup spot.

Another side hoping to qualify for the Charlie Bishop Cup is Glenview FC and they did their chances no harm on Sunday, beating bottom side St. Fergal’s AFC.

An Ashley McDonagh effort and a rare Jamie Quiney strike secured the points for the Glens.

That defeat puts the Saints Division 1 status in further doubt and fellow strugglers Glencormac United are now left clinging onto their Division 1 status after their 3-3 draw with St. Patrick’s on Sunday afternoon.

Paul Devlin, Ian Morris and Kevin Redden notched for the hosts at Ryders Field, but the Glens were denied a win by a late strike from Avoca side St. Patrick’s.
