History lecture

Bray People - - KILMACANOGUE DIARY -

ALL Kilmacanogue History Society members are asked to note that the society will hold its April meeting back in the Glencormac Inn on Tuesday, April 6, where the lecture will be given by James O’Brien.

Titled ‘A Journey through Wicklow by Old postcards’ this will commence at 8.30 p.m. James will take all present on an imaginary journey around Wicklow in the earlier part of the last century through the medium of old postcards.

Beginning in that favourite resort of Bray, then down the coast to Arklow, into the mountains and finally back to Kilmacanogue and Enniskerry, it will complete an historic circuit of the humble postcard.

James O’Brien spent his early years in the Enniskerry area where he developed his lifelong interest in postcards and coins.

He is a well-recognised figure at many national and local antique fairs and arcades, trading as ‘The Collector’s Shop’. Please bring along some of your old postcards of Wicklow should you wish to give them an airing. Entry is €3 (€2 for members) and as always, all are welcome.
