OPTIONS FOR SENIOR CYCLE A most informative meeting was held in St. Kevin’s recently to offer parents some advice regarding options for senior cycle. The options discussed on the night were Transition Year, the L.C.V.P. programme and whole issue of subject choice. Ms. H. Whyte addressed parents re. the Transition Year option following an introduction by Ms. Burke. Ms. Cadogan gave some advice re. the issue of subject choice. In particular, parents were asked to think carefully in relation to the choice of a science subject and a modern language. Finally, Ms. Campbell gave some advice re. the L.C.V.P. programme. Parents were also strongly encouraged to discuss all of the above options with their son/daughter to ensure that they have a good range of subjects for senior cycle. CELEBRITY CHEF INITIATIVE Celebrity Chef, Edward Hayden from Dunbrody Cookery School, Dunbrody Country house hotel and restaurant came to St. Kevin’s Community College recently as part of the JCSP Programme Initiative ‘Celebrity Chef’. Edward has publish a cookery book Edward Entertains. Edward demonstrated 4 dishes during a double period including lemon drizzle cake, brown bread, éclairs and mixed fruit crumble. Edward Hayden did a demonstration for JCSP students completing the home economics Junior Cert course along with 3rd year Home economics students. There was a large attendance with the following JCSP students in attendance: Vanessa Dempsey, Jessica Donovan, Michelle Dunne, Anthony Dempsey, Shauna Deegan, Amy Butler, Michelle O’Neill, Katelyn Corcoran, Charlie Lyttle, Kim Mackey, Shauna Humphries. The students reported that they fully enjoyed the experience and will be trying the recipes at home.
