Fin­gal­lians record a con­vinc­ing victory

THE SEC­OND game played at Glenealy saw vis­i­tors Fin­gal­lians from Dublin prove too strong for the home side as they romped to a ten-point victory.

Goals from Peter Macken and Barry Mol­loy and sin­gle points from mid­fielder Eoin Martin, Peter Daly and Stephen Dowl­ing put the hosts in con­trol, while Gary Byrne added a long-range point from a free which saw the win­ners lead­ing 2-3 to 0-1.

Af­ter the break the Dublin side added two points. At this stage Glenealy showed an im­prove­ment and af­ter a brief rally Stephen Coady scored a goal and the same player landed two points which gave hope of a re­vival as they cut the lead to 2-5 to 1-3 ten min­utes into the sec­ond-half.

The last quar­ter saw the win­ners up the tempo and they went on to add 1-3, the goal com­ing from Conor Dempsey while Glenealy’s only re­ply was a point from sub­sti­tute John Phe­lan.
