THE HEIR to the Powerscourt Estate has left almost €1.4 million to his wife in his will.

Retired anesthetist Michael Slazenger (69), The Waterfall, Enniskerry, was killed in a plane crash on the grounds of the estate last April. His father Ralf made his fortune from the Slazenger tennis and sports brand.

Michael, pictured right, was pilot in a light aircraft when it hit a tree and both Mr Slazenger and his passenger Noel Whitney were killed.

Michael's family friend described him as ‘a superhero who liked to be invisible,' at the funeral in Enniskerry last year. ‘Michael needed to fly; it was hardwired into his personality,' he said. ' He led a fulfilling, joyous and wonderful life.' He left his estate, which amounted to €1,398,996, to his widow Noreen with any residue to the various family trusts that own the Powerscourt Estate.
