Joseph raises over €2,600 for cancer char­ity at head shave

LO­CAL MAN, Joseph O'Con­nor re­cently or­gan­ised to shave his head to raise money for the Bray Cancer Sup­port Cen­tre.

Joseph is soon un­der­go­ing chemo­ther­apy and de­cided to shave his head be­fore he starts treat­ment. Joseph, his fam­ily and ex­tended fam­ily were very grate­ful for the sup­port they re­ceived from the cen­tre and came up with the idea to raise money for such a wor­thy cause.

An event was or­gan­ised in McKenna's pub in Dun Laoghaire where crowds turned up to spon­sor Joseph and show sup­port. On the night a stag­ger­ing €2,500 was raised in spon­sor­ships and do­na­tions.

Bren­dan O'Leary of Bray Cancer Sup­port Cen­tre was de­lighted with the do­na­tion. ‘It's re­ally such a huge amount of money and we are very grate­ful' said Bren­dan. ‘ The money raised will go to­wards sup­port for fam­i­lies cop­ing with a par­ent's cancer'.
