Joseph raises over €2,600 for cancer charity at head shave
LOCAL MAN, Joseph O'Connor recently organised to shave his head to raise money for the Bray Cancer Support Centre.
Joseph is soon undergoing chemotherapy and decided to shave his head before he starts treatment. Joseph, his family and extended family were very grateful for the support they received from the centre and came up with the idea to raise money for such a worthy cause.
An event was organised in McKenna's pub in Dun Laoghaire where crowds turned up to sponsor Joseph and show support. On the night a staggering €2,500 was raised in sponsorships and donations.
Brendan O'Leary of Bray Cancer Support Centre was delighted with the donation. ‘It's really such a huge amount of money and we are very grateful' said Brendan. ‘ The money raised will go towards support for families coping with a parent's cancer'.
