‘No response’ from owners of La Touche
‘PLEASE REMOVE THIS UGLY SITE FROM OUR TOWN’
THE LA Touche Hotel is a dangerous site and needs to be cleaned up immediately according to Cllr. George Jones.
Speaking at last week's meeting of Greystones Town Council Cllr. Jones said 'I really think we need to do something about the La Touche Hotel and we need to address security issues at the site. We have to step up security and we must be proactive to try and remove this ugly site from our town.'
He was supported by Cllr. Derek Mitchell who said 'I want to see this on the derelict site register' pointing out the council could receive 3 per cent of the value of the site a year if it was on the register and remained derelict. He said someone from the planning department should attend next month's meeting of the town council to discuss the matter.
Cllr. Tom Fortune wondered if the hotel were demolished would it be suitable for a sheltered village. Town clerk Myra Porter said she had written to the liquidator acting on behalf of AIB and also to the security company employed saying 'we were adamant that the building must be made secure and also asked what the future intentions of the owners were.'
However she said there had been no response as of yet.
The once majestic La Touche Hotel is now an eyesore and a very dangerous deteriorating site.
