OPEL tar­gets iPhone users with great apps

OPEL FLEXAPP, a se­ries of tools in an iPhone app, are de­signed to help with ev­ery­thing from park­ing, shop­ping, hol­i­days, busi­ness and find­ing the right playlist to suit a mood - of­fer­ing driv­ers use­ful tools that help reach their des­ti­na­tion in a sim­ple, efficient and en­joy­able way.

And, As­tra fans also get a spe­cial sur­prise: There are three en­ter­tain­ing ad­di­tional ap­pli­ca­tions that al­low them to star in their own As­tra ad, lis­ten to some mu­sic or try their hand at an As­tra driv­ing game.

‘In­no­va­tion is in our genes. Our en­gi­neers recog­nised that iPhone users in­creas­ingly are de­mand­ing soft­ware to make their lives eas­ier,’ says Alain Visser, Vice Pres­i­dent Sales, Mar­ket­ing and Af­ter­sales.

‘The Opel FlexApp of­fers a bun­dle of tools that can be per­son­alised and used ev­ery day, both in and out of the car.’

FlexApp will be en­hanced with fur­ther tools such as the City Guide to pro­vide the app with longevity. The ap­pli­ca­tion will grow each year to in­clude more func­tions, so it will con­tinue to pro­vide ben­e­fit to its users.

Avail­able at iTunes stores for free-down­load­ing, the Opel FlexApp (http://itunes.ap­ple.com/app/flexapp/id409786653?mt=8) helps users find park­ing spaces, keep track of the time left on the me­ter and re­mem­ber where their car is parked. It can also as­sist in cre­at­ing shop­ping lists and find­ing the best shops. FlexApp can even lend a hand in or­gan­is­ing the next hol­i­day. Users can even record a memo and send it - once they have safely parked the car.

Need to chill out af­ter a hard day at work? Opel FlexApp will cre­ate playlists based on a mood. Don't like one of the se­lec­tions? Users can sim­ply skip to the next song and the FlexApp Mood Player changes the song.

The Hot Spot func­tion helps to se­lect key points of in­ter­est and con­tact de­tails for restau­rants, ho­tels, Opel deal­ers etc. Users will be guided to their pre­ferred lo­ca­tion via rout­ing, and they can choose be­tween the fastest and short­est route and ex­port the con­fig­u­ra­tion to Google Maps or Nav­igon.

True to Opel phi­los­o­phy, the FlexApp is flex­i­ble in that it can be per­son­alised. Users have the op­tion of cus­tomis­ing their home screen. The six tools can be re­lo­cated and ac­ti­vated/de­ac­ti­vated on the home screen. Users can se­lect all or only one to utilise on any given day.
